Why Teach Bitcoin?
People Learn From People
In many places, people don't learn about Bitcoin from a website or a video. They learn from someone they trust, in their own language.
Make Bitcoin Real Where You Are
You know how money works in your country, the wallets people use and the questions your neighbours ask. That local knowledge is what makes a class useful.
Start Something That Lasts
A class can grow into a community: graduates who become educators, merchants who accept Bitcoin, people who keep learning together.
Everything You Need to Teach, Free and Open Source
Use the programs as they are, adapt them to your community, translate them. No permission needed: every resource is open source.

For you, the educator
Educator Hub

“The Educator Training Program is your springboard to becoming a Bitcoin educator. A springboard only works if you jump. Bring the commitment, put in the work, and we'll help guide you every step of the way.”
Your path
From Bitcoiner to Educator
Our Educator Training Program (ETP) takes you from your first class to certification, in four steps. Applying, getting equipped and teaching with a mentor are free. What it asks for is commitment.
Learn It First
Take the Bitcoin Diploma as a student, with an educator or by reading the free student guide. It brings everyone to the same starting point.
Get Equipped
Six hours of live online training over one week, in a small group, at a time that fits your time zone. You practise with the guides and activities and plan your first cohort.
Go Teach
Teach real classes within three months, in your own cohort or as a guest in another community, with a mentor who joins your sessions and gives you honest feedback.
Earn the Name
When you feel ready, teach in front of a panel of peers. If you pass, you become a Bitcoin Certified Educator, and My First Bitcoin puts its name behind you.
“I have put in the time to learn how to be a Bitcoin educator. This is my proof of work.”
Every My First Bitcoin Certified Educator
What You'll Walk Away With
“I understand Bitcoin, but I freeze up in front of a class.”
Learn to facilitate a real class, not just present slides.
“Most people who try to teach end up doing it alone.”
Connect with a mentor and a network of educators in 43 countries.
“I've got the curriculum, but not a class.”
Leave with everything you need to run your first cohort.
“Why would students trust me to teach?”
Earn certification that puts My First Bitcoin's name behind you.
Educators Who Started Where You Are
“Joining this network and meeting people who share the goal of dismantling Fiat through education has helped us fulfill our dream: consolidating circular economies using Bitcoin across Colombia.”
Carolina
Bitcoin Educator & Community Leader, co-founder of Mi Tierra Digital, Colombia
“For me, this is the best fundamental educational curriculum to convert non-Bitcoiners to become Bitcoiners.”
Dimas
Bitcoin Educator, co-founder of Bitcoin Indonesia, Indonesia
“Most people use money and they don't know what money is. Any curriculum for anyone to understand Bitcoin must first explain the history of money: what money even is.”
Martin Mutonga
Bitcoin Educator, founder of Bitcoin School Kenya, Kenya
“Learning in my own language made all the difference. It finally clicked.”
Angella Malika Tete
Bitcoin Educator, Uganda
“Bitcoin is actually freedom for everyone. It does not discriminate whether you're rich or poor. It is decentralized, I have my own money, and no one is going to take it from me.”
Brian Ondabu
Bitcoin Educator & Community Leader, Chairman of Safi Boys Youth Group, Kenya
“Bitcoin is a tool for financial freedom, not just a way to get rich quickly. It's not as complicated as people think; you can learn it and transfer that knowledge to others.”
Akisibe Abdalaah
Network Systems Administrator & Bitcoin Educator, Uganda
We Screen for Motivation, Not Credentials
ETP applications are read carefully, and not every one is a fit right now. That's not a judgement. It usually just means there's a better first step. Here's how to tell where you stand.
This Is You
- You want to teach Bitcoin in your own community.
- You've been through the My First Bitcoin curriculum.
- You can be in front of students within three months.
- You're motivated and ready to take part.
Maybe Not Yet
- You're still building your Bitcoin knowledge: start with the free Bitcoin Diploma.
- You mainly want another certificate on the shelf.
- You want a short course to finish and move on.
- You're mainly after public-speaking practice.
Questions Before You Apply to the ETP
Do I need to know Bitcoin already?
Yes: a solid understanding, not expertise. We strongly recommend you've completed the My First Bitcoin curriculum (the Bitcoin Diploma), self-paced or with an educator, before you apply. We don't teach you Bitcoin. We teach you how to teach Bitcoin.
What does it cost?
The application, Get Equipped (step 2) and Go Teach (step 3) are free and stay free. No one here is filtered out by cost, only by motivation. What we ask for is commitment: being in front of students within three months.
What's the real time commitment?
Six hours of live training over one week: three two-hour sessions online, at a time that fits your time zone. Then the classes you go on to teach. The heavier commitment is Go Teach (step 3): planning and running real cohorts in your own community, with a mentor alongside you.
Am I certified after the three sessions?
No. The live training leaves you equipped to teach; it doesn't certify you. Certification comes after you've taught real classes and feel ready: you teach in front of a three-person panel of peers, scored against a shared rubric.
Can my application be turned down?
Yes. Anyone motivated to teach Bitcoin in a community can apply, and we read for motivation rather than credentials or reputation. Cohorts are kept deliberately focused, so if the fit isn't right yet, we'll tell you what we'd like to see and you're welcome to apply again.
Will My First Bitcoin send me students?
No. You find and teach your own students, in your own community. The training helps you plan a cohort, invite students and run it, and the network shares what works.
Can I teach in my own language?
Yes. The programs are translated by volunteers into many languages, and more are added regularly. If yours isn't there yet, you can help translate it.
Do I have to join the Education Network?
No. The materials are open source, and anyone can teach with them without asking. Joining the network, as a community, is a separate step: it connects you with peers, mentorship and visibility.
When does the next cohort start?
Applications are open on a rolling basis, and cohorts stay small so mentorship stays close. Apply whenever you're ready and we'll place you in the next one that fits your schedule.
Still Wondering How It Can All Be Free?
Education that empowers cannot come from those who fund and control it. It must be independent, grassroots and built from the bottom up: led by the community, for the community.
Supported by grassroots donations and aligned partners, we empower local educators and communities to teach Bitcoin around the world.
